The Year 7 camp was a week-long adventure filled with a range of activities that tested the students’ skills and abilities, as well as their team building and problem-solving skills.
The campsite was located in the beautiful rainforest of Mungalli Falls, and the students had the opportunity to explore the area through a range of activities such as abseiling, orienteering, raft building, and obstacle course. These activities challenged the students both physically and mentally and encouraged them to push beyond their limits while developing their confidence and resilience.
Abseiling was one of the highlights of the camp. The students were taught the safety procedures and then got to abseil down a 30-meter cliff face. They were able to overcome their fears and develop trust in their equipment and their peers. The students were also taught the importance of communication and how to encourage and support each other through challenging situations.
The orienteering activity was another fun and challenging activity. The students were given a map and a compass and had to navigate their way through the rainforest to reach various checkpoints. This activity tested their problem-solving skills, as they had to use their critical thinking skills to determine the best route to take.
The students also had the opportunity to build their own rafts, which they then raced across the lake. This activity required teamwork, communication, and creativity, as the students had to work together to build a raft that was sturdy enough to support their team.
The obstacle course was another exciting activity that challenged the students both physically and mentally. The course required the students to work together to overcome a range of obstacles, such as rope bridges, cargo nets, and wall climbs. This activity helped the students to develop their leadership skills, as they had to take turns leading their team through the course.
Overall, the Year 7 camp at Mungalli Falls was an unforgettable experience that provided the students with an opportunity to challenge themselves, build their teamwork and problem-solving skills, and develop their confidence and resilience. We hope that this experience will stay with them throughout their school years and beyond.
